What does “merge PDF” actually do?
Merging combines two or more separate PDF files into a single PDF, back to back, in whatever order you arrange them. Nothing inside the pages is changed — page 1 of your first file becomes page 1 of the merged file, and every page after it follows in sequence, file by file.
Is it safe to merge PDFs online?
It depends on where the merging actually happens. Most “online” PDF mergers upload your files to a server, combine them there, and send the result back — meaning your documents pass through someone else's infrastructure. This tool works differently: it merges your PDFs entirely inside your own browser using JavaScript. Your files are never uploaded anywhere, which matters if you're combining anything sensitive like contracts, tax documents, or medical records.
Is there a limit to how many PDFs I can merge?
There's no hard cap on file count, but because everything runs in your browser's memory rather than on a server, very large batches (dozens of files, or several hundred megabytes combined) can slow down or strain lower-powered devices. For typical use — combining a handful of documents, scanned pages, or reports — it runs smoothly.
Can I change the page order after merging?
You control the order before merging by dragging files into the sequence you want — that becomes the final page order. This tool merges whole files back to back rather than letting you pick individual pages out of each file; if you need to remove or reorder specific pages within a single PDF, that's a separate page-editing step.
