alltools.solutions started because I kept hitting the same wall: I'm not a developer, not an engineer, not someone with a computer science background. I'm just someone who got curious about what AI could actually do, and started building things to find out. The tools on this site are the result of that curiosity — small, useful, human-first utilities that don't ask you to hand over your data or sign up for a subscription you'll forget to cancel.
This blog is the other half of that same project. It's where I write about the process — what I'm learning, what's actually useful versus what's hype, and the odd interesting thing I stumble across while building all this.
Who this is for
Honestly? People like me. Busy, not deeply technical, a bit sceptical of anything that sounds too good to be true, but curious enough to want to actually understand the tools before using them — not just be told to trust the process.
If you're the kind of person who wants the “why” as well as the “how,” you'll probably get something out of this.
A quick note on AI and how I write
I use AI — a lot — in building this site and in writing this blog. But I want to be upfront about why, because it's not the reason you might assume.
I'm not using it just because that's how it's done now. I'm using it because building this site, and writing about building it, has become the most practical way I've found to actually learn what AI can do — and just as importantly, what it can't. Reading about AI teaches you the theory. Using it daily, on real problems, with real stakes, teaches you where it's genuinely brilliant, where it quietly gets things wrong, and where it needs a human paying attention the whole way through. This blog is partly a record of that — me learning in public, using the tools instead of just talking about them.
So to be specific: these posts are written with the assistance of AI, not generated by it and left untouched. I bring the ideas, the direction, the actual opinions — the things I've learned by doing this myself. AI helps me structure it, tighten it, and get it published faster than I would otherwise manage with the time I've got. Think of it less like a ghostwriter and more like a genuinely useful editor who never gets tired of another draft — one I'm also constantly testing the limits of, on purpose.
I'm not going to disclose this on every single post — that'd get old fast. But I wanted it said clearly once, here, so there's no confusion about how this gets made, or why.
Every now and then, I'll write something myself, unassisted, start to finish. You probably won't be able to tell the difference — which either says something about how good AI writing tools have gotten, or how average my own writing is. Possibly both.
What you'll actually find here
A mix of things:
- Plain-language explainers — what different AI tools actually do, how they differ, and how to think about picking between them without needing a computer science degree.
- Practical posts tied to the tools on this site — not sales pitches, just honest walkthroughs of when and why a given tool is actually useful.
- The odd bigger-picture piece — thoughts on where AI is heading, what's worth paying attention to, and what's mostly noise.
If something here is genuinely useful to you, you might find one of the tools useful too — that's sort of the whole idea. But this blog isn't here to sell you anything. It's here because I think most people are being talked at about AI, rather than talked to, and I'd rather try the second one.
